March 2012 - The Government has confirmed that there will be a change to the date for holding the annual canvass in 2012. This is because the Police and Crime Commissioner elections would have taken place during the annual canvass period.

The annual canvass will now start at the beginning of July and there will be no monthly updates to the register for August, September or October. A new register will be published on 16 October 2012 ready for use at the Police & Crime Commissioner elections on 15 November.

Once this new register is published the monthly updates will resume from November 2012 and continue until September 2013. The annual canvass for 2013 will revert back to being held in the Autumn.

February 2012 - The Home Office have confirmed that the first Police and Crime Commissioner Elections are to take place in England on 15 November 2012. We will put information on our website when available but until then there is information on the Home Office website.

The Boundary Commission for England has consulted on initial proposals and the results so far will be available at noon, 6 March 2012. Respondents to the secondary consultation will therefore need to ensure their comments are made to the Commission no later than 3 April 2012. The Commission is not intending on publishing any more of the Review documents in hard copy format but all will be available for inspection on-line on the Boundary Commission website.

January 2012 - The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England is carrying out an electoral review of Surrey County Council. The review aims to make local elections fairer by ensuring that all County Councillors in Surrey represent a similar number of people and that the Council has the right number of councillors to represent each area effectively. For information on the progress of the review you can visit the Local Government Boundary Commission website.

December 2011 - The canvass for the 2012 register of electors has now finished. To be added to the register you now need to complete a rolling registration form. For more information about rolling registration and to download a form, visit the main Electoral Registration page.
